Bio

Jaime’s mission is to advance our understanding of how environmental exposures harm human health to better inform preventive interventions. Part of his work is methodological: He critically evaluates whether existing epidemiological methods can validly answer causal questions. He also applies these methods to quantify the effect of different aspects of the natural and built environment on health, with a particular focus on cognitive health and dementia.

Originally from Mexico, Jaime is committed to training the next generation of public health researchers and professionals from Latin America. He has designed and led introductory workshops on causal graphs for researchers at universities and regional conferences, and has taught free courses in environmental epidemiology.

Jaime enjoys spending time with his family (including a potential future epidemiologist, who knows?!). For him, working is an excuse to listen to Bach (and occasionally others).
